About Us

A Brief History and introduction to our activities

Our founding partnership commenced trading in the centre of Sheffield during 1897. The principal function, and the reason for our location was the cutting of Mother of Pearl shell and supply of slabs to the cutlery trade. Over the years this developed into the supply of finished handles, which is still one of our most important activities. In 1989 we moved six Miles to our present location, still with a Sheffield postcode, but into North East Derbyshire. Over the years, as well as the move to supplying finished handles, meeting the needs of other users in furniture manufacture/restoration, jewellery and musical instrument makers has become part of our work. Whilst we are still largely suppliers of unfinished components to other manufacturers, we do have a small range of finished goods, individually hand made in Mother of Pearl, as well as some presentation cutlery items. We would, however strees that our activities are CUSTOMER LED, Most of our business consists of producing components or finished articles to specification, WITHIN THE LIMITS IMPOSED BY RAW MATERIALS! Please do not hesitate to ask for our advice on what is possible, and allow us to Quote.
