The Bay Hotel, Robin Hoods Bay, near Whitby North Yorkshire.
A Coastal pub situated right next to the slip way at Robins hood bay. It has a real smugglers feel about it and is well worth a visit. This is the official end of Alfred Wainwrights
coast to coast walk from St Bee's head in Cumbria. Many walkers have used the Slipway to dip their feet in the North Sea after the long walk from the Irish Sea.
There are plenty of nice walks in the area. One walk I have enjoyed in the past is up the coastal path to
Whitby. This takes about 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 hours depending on your your walking speed. You can then catch the bus back from Whitby.
ITV's Heartbeat country is also nearby.
The Bay Hotel offers accommodation and there are plenty of B&B's higher up in the village. If you wish to camp two campsites are within walking relatively easy walking distance of this pub. Middlewood Farm Holiday Park

I enjoy standing next to the slipway with a pint and watching the tide race up the beach.
It really does come in quickly and is quite a spectacle.
