Set in a Limestone dale in the villiage of Stoney Middleton this is great pub. There are many old abandoned lead mines in this area.
Stoney Middleton has the feel of an old mining village. There are also at least two cave networks Carswark Cavern and Steaks Pot just to the the west of Stoney Middleton almost next to the main road. I used to participate in the sport of potholing and we used to visit the Moon often after spending much of the day underground. This pub is situated on the A623 Chesterfield to Manchester road.
