Station Inn, Ribblehead, Near Ingleton, North Yorkshire.
Situated at the head of the Ribble Valley next to the famous Ribblehead Viaduct that carries one of Britain's most famous Railway Lines the Settle to Carlisle Railway.
This is an excellent pub with a very welcoming atmosphere and is a good place to spend a few hours.. It is on the B6255 Ingleton to Hawes Road. It can be reached easily by Public Transport as it is situated at the end of the lane from Ribblehead Railway station that has direct trains from both Leeds and Carlisle. See National Rail for train times or see the Settle - Carlisle railway website for train times and lots of other information about the railway.
You may camp behind the pub. There are no other campsites I know of with such a unique view as the Ribblehead viaduct.
It is surrounded by three mountains Inglebourough, Peny Ghent and Whernside and is ideally situated for the Three Peaks Walk.
Visit Multimap for more details on location, the postcode is LA6 3AS.
Views of the Ribblehead viaduct including a 1978 Triumph Dolomite.
Looking south towards Settle on Ribblehead station. The Settle Carlisle Railway visitor centre can be found here. This railway used to be the Midland Mainline from London St Pancras to Glasgow. A mileage post on the Southbound Platform tells you
the distance to London.
View of Ingleborough Mountain from Ribblehead station.
Looking along the road in the direction of Hawes from the Pub. In the dip is the River Ribble in its Infancy. From here it makes its way from the pennines to the Irish sea at Lytham St Annes just south of Blackpool.
White Scar cave is a 10 minute drive away along the road to Ingleton. This is the longest show cave in Britain and well worth a visit. Click here to visit their website.
